November 06: See Us at Arabplas 2007

Pipe Coil Technology will be exhibiting for the first time at Arabplast 2007. The 8th Arabian International Plastics and Rubber Industry Trade Show runs from 13th to 16th January 2007 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. We will be promoting semi-automatic and fully automated coiling and winding equipment for pipe and tube from 10 to 200mm diameter. We are located in the British Pavillion.

September 06: See Us at K 2007

Pipe Coil Technology Limited will exhibit at K2007 in Dusseldorf. It has been 11 years since the Company last exhibited at the show in Germany and since then we have developed a wide range of automated coiling and packaging systems which have been supplied to leading extrusion companies in both the UK and North America. We will be showing coiling solutions for the following applications; Plumbing Pipe (PEX-AL-PEX and PB) Utilities Pipe (HDPE & reinforced HDPE) Conduit, hose and tube (electrical conduit, PVC hose, Nylon hose, PE tubing) Corrugated Pipe (Single & dual wall PVC / HDPE)

August 06: Meet Us at Chinaplas 2007

We will be exhibiting at Chinaplas 2007, the largest plastics and rubber event in the Asia Pacific region and now one of the top 5 international plastic shows in the world. We will be exhibiting high speed automatic coiling systems for PEX pipe and similar small diameter pipe and tubing products, as well as our range of coiling machines for polyethylene pressure pipe and duct. Stand location to be confirmed.

July 06: NPE 2006 - Offline Coiling a Big Draw

Pipe Coil Technology Ltd enjoyed a good week in Chicago at the NPE 2006 show. Enquiry level was up 70% on 2003 and business generated since the show has shown a similar increase. Of particular interest was our high speed off-line coiling systems for small diameter (up to 1 1/4”) pipe and tubing.

The benefits of higher production speeds and vastly reduced labour costs proved to be the major factors in grabbing the attention of the North American Pipe Producers. Several companies who placed orders after the show are already benefiting from the use of our offline- coiling systems and some of the higher volume users are looking forward to achieving full payback on their investment before the end of 2007!

May 06: Pex Pipe coiling system benefits end user

A coil production system, offered by Pipe Coil Technology Ltd specifically for PEX(b) pipe producers, benefits the end user of coiled PEX(b) pipe by making the pipe much easier to handle during installation.

The principle of the system is simple; cure the pipe before rather than after coiling. The majority of PEX(b) pipe produced today is coiled directly at the end of the extrusion process into coils with an inner diameter of typically 24 inches. The coils are then cured in a steam enclave before final packaging.

Curing the pipe at this small diameter is almost like making a spring; when the end user comes to remove the pipe from the coil it has a strong tendency to spring back into the coil shape making installation difficult. With the Pipe Coil Technology system the extruded pipe is wound onto large steel process drums which have a core diameter of typically 84 inches. The pipe is then cured on the drum and subsequently rewound into small coils.

The pipe in the finished coil now has tendency to spring out of the coil, behaving more like a straight length, making it much easier to install. This production technique benefits more than the end user; it offers a market advantage to the pipe producer and it enables significant reductions in pipe production costs.

The cost reductions coming from the greater efficiency and higher output capacity of this system. A typical production system will handle the output from up to three extrusion lines and will produce up to 100 coils per hour with a total labour requirement of only two operators per shift.

Any automatic coiler from Pipe Coil Technology Ltd can be incorporated into this system with the most popular machines being:

April 06: Benefits of Film Wrapped Coils

Small diameter utilities and plumbing pipe has traditionally been supplied in coils with restraining straps placed in three to six positions on the coil.

This packaging method has a number of disadvantages; the pipe becomes dirty easily, the straps have a tendency to become loose during handling causing the coil to lose shape and when the straps are cut the coil unwinds and is difficult to handle.

An alternative, and increasing popular method of coil packaging, offered by Pipe Coil Technology Ltd eliminates all of these problems. A fully automated coiling machine with a built in packaging system applies stretch film around the circumference of the coil at the time of coiling. This ensures the cleanliness of the pipe from the minute the coil is produced.

The tightness of the film wrap ensures that the coil cannot become loose during handling and the inherent characteristic of the film to cling to itself means that the coils stack much better.

At installation the pipe is pulled from the centre of the coil as required; the packaging is not removed as the pipe is unwound from the coil. The unused pipe remains protected by the cling film in a stable package right up to the last few feet.
