Low Ovality technology
Low Ovality technology allows large diameter HDPE pipe to be coiled with zero, or minimal, ovality.
The benefits to be gained from Low Ovality technology will cause pipe manufacturers and end users to redefine how pipe coils are produced, transported and installed.
What Low Ovality offers
Low Ovality technology will make it possible to:
- coil pipe with zero or minimal ovality when coiling at coil internal diameters in excess of 18 times pipe diameter.
- coil pipe at coil internal diameters as low as 12 times pipe diameter, whilst remaining within existing pipe ovality limits.
Major manufacturer benefits
The major benefits for pipe manufacturers will be:
- elimination of coil failure during yard storage - a particular problem with large diameter coils of SDR 17, or thinner walled pipe.
- coil rejection by end users due to excess pipe ovality will be eliminated.
- reduction in transport costs by manufacturing coils at smaller diameters, allowing longer coil lengths within same overall volume.
End user benefits too
Benefits for pipeline operating companies will also be significant:
- ability to purchase pipe diameters up to 250m in coiled lengths, allowing reduction in number of joints.
- reduction in number of joints on smaller pipe sizes - ability to purchase longer coil lengths.
Working with your equipment
The new range of coilers with Low Ovality technology are self contained machines designed to operate at the end of any pipe extrusion line, with no modification to the extrusion process required.
The range consists of three machine sizes covering pipe diameters from 90 to 250mm , with the larger machines capable of producing coils weighing up to 2,500kg .
Optional extras
A range of options are available for all machine sizes, such as wheel mounting or integrated coil unload system which enhance efficient coil production.
Larger versions can also be supplied to suit customer requirements.
