Handling Unique Materials Offshore
A system which could be easily moved from rig to rig to inject 15mm diameter semi-stiff carbon rod containing optical fibres from the platform into the oil well for well condition monitoring was required. PCT designed and manufactured a system which stores the rod on a 4.6m diameter spooler and feeds into the well by a caterpillar linear injector which accurately controls the rod tension. All operations including well monitoring are performed from a bespoke zone rated control cabin. The system complies with all the relevant regulations for rig operation in all sectors of the North Sea.
